This is not, nor was it intended to be, great literature. It is a fascinating look at a lifetime of memories written in a very readable and engaging style.
The author tells her about her life as a young girl in Illinois and later as the wife of a Navy photographer. It written in straightforward fashion with no apologies or regrets. The real value of this book is how this incredible woman survives some tough times by using her mind, skill and determination.
I completely disagree with the reviewer who said here that it is from a miserable person blming everything on others in her life. The author takes full responsibility for the choices she makes and manages inspite of everything to live a pretty good life.
I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys seeing how a good person prevails regardless of the difficulties one might face.

Now, disposing of the detritus of a small life, as one begins by deciding who gets the silver, the small store of jewelry etc.-- so it is with the keepsakes in the attic of the mind. I would like to share mine with others who have some of their own.
