That appears to be the clear if unintended message of the brainless first chapter antics of our heroes in this otherwise intriguing premise. Grace Young-Mi Park, upstart publicist, has defied her family, defied her industry, and defied the odds, turning her once absolute nobody of an actor client into a household name, and at a party celebrating that success, she decides to do something else no one who knew her would ever expect her to do: strut right over in her five inch heels to the casual acquaintance she has been obsessing over and "announce" her interest in Nick Matthews, freelance reporter. Nick sees her coming over and is torn between desire and terror because it turns out that he has been obsessing over her as well, but he also knows that Grace is a "relationship chick", and he doesn't "do" relationships. Ever. However, desire quickly trumps common sense in both of them.
In fact it apparently trumps ALL sense because Grace proceeds to blurt out her client's most embarrassing secret, the one she has been paid to keep buried, to her brand new boyfriend, the reporter, IN THE CAB! Now, I suppose it would be too much to ask a reporter to look such a gift story in the proper orifice under the circumstances (after all, whichever reporter the cabdriver blabs to is going to be writing the story if Nick doesn't), but it shows a certain lack of class to be typing it up in the hotel room with her between bouts. When Grace awakens alone next morning she finds a thoughtful note, thanking her for a wonderful time and leaving her his phone number. Then she walks outside and is immediately confronted by a newspaper headline revealing her client's deepest, darkest secret. Sure enough the byline is Nicolas Matthews, and the story CITES HER AS THE SOURCE, thereby effectively destroying her career because while failing to prevent your client's dirty laundry from being aired is forgivable, doing the airing yourself is not.
Frankly, at this point I almost gave up on the book. While I can put up with a lot of human frailties in characters that are otherwise likable, I have a hard time with stupidity this abject. Besides I knew that the author would have to come up with something totally off the wall in order to get these two back together in even a halfway plausible way.
To her credit, Monica Newcomb does just that. Three months later his best friend and her best friend are getting married in Hawaii, and guess who the Best Man and Maid of Honor turn out to be? And this is going to be the Wedding from Hell: the bride is freaking out, just this side of total collapse, the stepmother of the groom is Evil Incarnate, the brother of the groom, Grace's ex, would like another opportunity to break her heart, Grace's one and only remaining client, the guy she accidentally exposed, is on the island engaging in more than usually stupid self-destructive behavior, which Nick's boss is pressuring him to cover, and finally the groom's insanely jealous ex is trying to sabotage the wedding.
Can our two heroes set aside their mutual stupidity and feelings about same long enough to work together and save their best friends' wedding? WITHOUT letting the panicky bride know? And in the process can they ever get it through their thick heads just how perfect they are for each other? Can love triumph over all? Well, the answer is obvious, but the fun (and it WAS a lot of fun I'm forced to admit) is in how they get there.

Grace Park, upstart LA publicist, has never asked a man out before. Korean-American culture has taught her two things: how to walk effortlessly in five-inch heels and how to let the men do the pursuing. But she's been intensely drawn to notorious player Nick Matthews from the first time they met.Nick has always avoided women like Grace, women he calls 'relationship chicks." But there was no doubt about it-Grace is his walking wet dream. When she offers herself to him on a platter, how can he resist the feast? He was afraid the same diet would grow boring and tasteless, but every moment with Grace is an adventure. After trusting Nick once and getting burned, she's afraid to try again. But when they're thrown together in an exotic Hawaiian setting, will Nick and Grace be able to let down their guards and take a chance on each other?
