Satan in High Heels is at best, a jumbled account of some pour soul's worst possible, whether real or imagined, church experiences and a thinly veiled attempt to justify carnal Christianity. Most of the other reviewers have posted rather glowing reviews of this work. That strikes me as odd and rather disingenuous. What exactly did they read? Rather than a gripping novel, the book actually reminded me of a series of troubled journal entries. What's more, if these are entries from the author's journal, I'm scared. This was no page turner; I had to force myself to finish it. Part of me was praying for a turnaround - a point of redemption. But none was to be found.
At one point, the main character takes her husband, reportedly a sitting pastor, to task for not being aware of MARINE DEMONS! Honestly, I thought the author was leading up to a joke but as this conversation takes up most of Chapter 13, I soon came to realize that she was most serious. The story line jumps from one implausible scene to the next with trite dialogue, poor sentence structure, bad grammar, and regretfully, random letters thrown in to provide weight to this malnourished plot line. The one redeeming aspect of this book is Charmin's letter. In it, the author shifts her focus onto God's magnificent love and leaves the imaginary demons, sexual innuendo, and deviant moral behavior in the shoebox where it belongs.
